Children's Art Show, Wednesday, June 1 (4-6 PM)

Join us at the library on Wednesday, June 1 (4-6 PM) to view the works of local artist Randy Draughn.  Randy has created some terrific paintings inspired by characters from children's literature and television.  The Simpons, Sesame Street characters, Joy and Sadness from the film Inside Out, SpongeBob, Winnie the Pooh, and many more.  Each painting is paired with a corresponding emotion that describes the character.  Randy has had previous art shows at the Cayuga Community College (Fulton Branch) and Barnes & Noble.

Every Child Ready to Read, Fridays (10-11 AM), starting May 13

Join us with your children at the library on Fridays (10-11 AM) for the Every Child Ready to Read program.  This six week program focuses on developing early literacy skills in children 3-5 years old.  Each session focuses on a key early literacy skill including: narrative skills, letter knowledge, print awareness, phonological awareness, print motivation, and vocabulary.  The sessions are designed to be informative (and fun) for both parents and children.  Research has shown that stong early literacy skills can often lead to future success in other types of learning.

Early Literacy Story Times, every Tuesday and Friday (10 AM)

The library is continuing our very popular story times and craft activities for Pre-K children.  On Tuesday (10 AM), we have Story Time and Friday (10 AM), we feature ABC story hour with a focus on learning letters and the alphabet.  These story hour programs are designed to help children learn early literacy skills such as print recognition, phonics, vocabulary, and narrative skills.  Research has shown that children with developed early literacy skills have an easier transition into the school environment, which can result in future academic success.

Board Game Club, Saturday, 2 PM (New day and time)

Board games are a great way to socialize, engage your mind, and have fun.  Instruction on the rules of each game will be provided.  The library is inviting all those who love games to participate and bring their own ideas.  Role playing, war, strategy, traditional classics...everything is on the table.  The Board Game Club will meet each Saturday in the children's section of the library.
